Title: Second Beginnings

Scy - August 27, 2008 10:44 PM (GMT)
After days of travel, we came to the Pyro Dunes. I stared at the vast expanse of sand, wondering what would possibly want to live here.

"Possibly the Dragonair of Fire? Right, Solana?"
'That is correct.' She replied, floating dimly behind me. 'Her name is Kindra. She's a free spirited Dragonair who loves to play games.'
"Games?"
'Yes.'

Solana didn't say anymore, so I didn't push it. Shrugging, I glanced at all of my pokemon. The trip here had made them become stronger, and I had switched some new members into the team to make it more balanced. I grabbed Quilava's pokeball, whose was at the end of the line, and released him.

Shaking his fur, he blinked at me quickly.

"Quil?"
"Hi there, buddy." I said with a smile, "It's been a while since we battled, eh?"
He nodded, happily.
"Alright, Let's get going!"

You walked for what felt like hours over an endless sea of sand, and now both you and Quilava were tired, and extremely thirsty. You were beginning to wonder if you should have bought some Fresh Water at the last vending machine you saw in a Pokemon Center when off in the distance you noticed a cloud of dust popping up, and it seemed to be heading somewhat towards you? Figuring it couldn't be all that bad you started wandering towards it.

As it grew closer you realized it was a giant Entei who burned you to a crisp, the end. a Numel, running as fast as it could for something. Well, you decided you'd never notice what it was looking for because as it noticed you it skidded to a stop and gave a quick "Numel nume!" Looks like it's time for a battle!

Excited at actually seeing something after hours of non-stop action, it was time to go!

"Quilava, Lets both battle this one and then we can get some water later!" I said.

He looked at me dumbfoundly, with a look of 'Where can we get water?'

I sighed. "Articuno can put some Ice in a container I have in my bag and we can let it melt. Alright, lets get started, use a Flame Wheel to start!"

As Quilava was covering itself in fire, you began to wonder why none of the people in the pokemon anime were ever this smart. I mean, they always had water pokemon so why did the suffer through deserts?? O__o;

No time to ponder on that though as Quilava dashed towards Numel and tackled it, forcing Numel to feel the heat! Too bad it was used to the heat from living in the desert. >_<

Numel responding by using Magnitude! It didn't create a very strong quake, but it was enough to ruffle the sand beneath you and knock Quilava off its feet so that Numel could hit it with a Tackle attack!

Using the common technique on the internet we call a facepalm, I wondered why I had put a Fire pokemon against a Fire and GROUND type. Oh well, it was good training.

"Quilava, Use Flame Wheel to gain momentum, then jump over top of it and use a Tackle attack on its back!"

Hooh251 - August 27, 2008 11:12 PM (GMT)
Quilava responded eagerly and did just that, as Numel watched helplessly cause you know, that's how it works. Giant thing of doom comes toward character, character stays like a deer in headlights instead of running.

Numel was pretty angered that you used anime logic though, and so pulled a couple rocks out of the ground and sent them at Quilava in a Rock Tomb attack! You had to squint from the dust as the rocks slammed into Quilava.

This wasn't going in my favor, but I really didn't have much of a choice but to Use Quilava. Bellossom and Scizor were weak to fire, Articuno was weak to Rock, and Jolteon was weak to ground. Numel wasn't a good pokemon in this situation to be facing. But good trainers can overcome problems like this, just like Ash does in the Anime all the time :D

Anyway, focusing back on the battle, I noticed Quilava slither slowly out of the rock pile.

"Hmm... Aha.... Alright, if aerial attacks won't work, lets try underground! Quilava, use Dig and then use a Flamethrower to heat the sand even more before you hit it!"

Hooh251 - August 27, 2008 11:26 PM (GMT)
Numel suddenly keeled over and died Quilava dug tunnels through the ground as, once more, Numel stood stunned. Wow. Not too smart of a pokemon you realized.

Quilava suddenly burst out of the sand underneath Numel hitting it, and was about 5 feet overhead the pokemon as it fired a Flamethrower towards the sand underneath Numel's feet. Unfotunately, Quilava missed.

Fortunately, it hit a better target, Numel itself!

Numel... growled or... something, and sent an Ember at your pokemon! Wait what? It was much smarter before. O__o;;

Yay It Died! Quilava blinked at the randomness of the Numel. Amnesia maybe? Who knows. And who really cares!

"Quilava, Let's use Double Team. Then follow it up with a Brick Break attack!"

Hooh251 - August 27, 2008 11:49 PM (GMT)
Quilava created two copies of itself, and then punched at Numel. Numel fell back a couple steps and seemed to be reading your mind, because it then used Amnesia!

...Wow. Smart.

Scy - August 28, 2008 12:21 AM (GMT)
I blinked. Amnesia? Guess it wanted to forget the last few seconds that it just had remembered.

"Okay, Then, Quilava, Give it another Brick Break, but use Flame Wheel again to gain more momentum."

Hooh251 - August 28, 2008 12:47 AM (GMT)
Quilava covered itself in flames once more and tackled into Numel, then using Numel to push itself back slightly, it punched him on the nose! Ouch, that's gotta hurt.

Numel decided it didn't like taking damage and so used Double-edge on Quilava! Whoops, wait, that does damage to it too. xP It also didn't help that Numel didn't really know how to do a Double-edge either so it kinda... threw itself at you, and hoped for the best.

"Quick, Quilava, slide to the side and cross chop it the stomach."

Maybe using inventive and/or new commands would help, or just make me seem smart. Either way, this challenging battle was starting to turn out fun.

Caffeinated Doom - September 4, 2008 07:11 PM (GMT)
Quilava tries to use Cross Chop, realizes it can't learn it, and cross chops instead...wait, what? Yum, pork chops. You know what I want? Pork ramen. Except for some reason, no stores seem to have it in stock anymore. That makes me sad.

It also makes Numel angry! Numel Howls in rage at the corporate EVIL that would nullify the amazingest flavor of ramen! Also, this post ends before it can get any more random. :XD:

Scy - September 6, 2008 09:30 PM (GMT)
Oops. Cross chops, brick breaks, all the same thing in my mind. Well anyway, an Angry Numel and no pork ramen= bad stuff D=

"Hmm.. lets go back to the first strategy of Brick Break/Flame Wheel!" I said, going to a combo that worked before and that Quilava actually knew =D

Akehoshi - September 11, 2008 01:38 PM (GMT)
Quilava quickly rolled at Numel, covered in FLAMES!!! =D Oh, yes, I've had too much sugar already.

There is a long moment as silence as the moderator goes to take the meds that she's supposed to take, before she manages to forget them.

. . .

. . .

. . .

Just as you began to grow impatient, you realize that Quilava had already done its attack, having done a respectable amount of damage to the slowly-weakening Numel! :P
