Soldier was walking along with his cubone in the Willow Way, it was raining and Soldier was staying under the trees while cubone was walking out in the rain.
"Weird" Soldier thought, "Cubone is a ground type, they hate water." But Cubone just stayed in the rain the whole time.

As you continued down the path, the rain began to stop. Soon, all sorts of pokemon were coming out to enjoy the sunshine! A shroomish ran out from the woods, and crashed straight into you! It looked up and angrily headbutted you!

The shroomish wanted to battle! Soldier knew that shroomish was a grass type and cubone was a ground type so it had no advantage.
"Wait!" He thought, "If Cubone dosn't mind water she shouldnt mind grass either. Cubone! Use... ... ... :sweatdrop: ummmm tackle?"
Cubone used tackle but shroomish avoided it and used a move that Soldier didn't know what it was. It immediatly KO'd Cubone when a strange man stepped out of the shadows.
"Shroomish return." He threw a pokéball and it released a red beam of light that absorbed the Shroomish, "I see you've met Shroomish. M' names Shadow, mayb' Ill see you around sometime when youre stronger and w'll battle but first you should get to a Pokécenter, or better yet, heres a potion I saw a weird path on the way here and I want you to explore it." "Well why don't you?" "I dont wanna take the risk and see where it leads" "Fine, I'll do it." "Follow me"
Soldier used the potion and returned Cubone. He followed Shadow to what seemed like the middle of the forest and there was a strange path there. "Well, here goe's!" He headed off down the path.
