Note: For this sidequest, you must have at least four Spirit Guardians. (Yes, that's a lot. There is a reason for it.) This sidequest can be successfully completed only once.

Out of all of the dojo in Kendor, there is one in particular that catches your eye. It's one of the smaller ones around, and it's old but well-maintained. The sign is neither particularly drab nor flashy – it simply has the words “Xavier's Dojo” written neatly in black paint – but there's a notice posted beneath it that gets your attention: “Pokemon trainer challenges welcome.”

You slide the door open and step inside, careful to remove your shoes first as to not dirty the tatami mats on the floor. A short person with spiky black hair turns around to look at you, broom in hand, pausing mid-sweep. “Ah, a visitor!” When she speaks, you realize that she is a girl. “It's been a while. Are you here for lessons? No, wait...you're here for a battle!”

“How do you know?”

“The Pokeballs at your belt, for one thing. For another, your ki – your aura – is very strong. I can tell.” She purses her lips. “I gladly accept your challenge, if you'll let me put this broom away.” She does so. “Now, let's see,” she says, throwing off her jacket. “I suppose I forgot to introduce myself...my name is Xavier Itou, daughter of Musashi and Alex Itou”

“...You're Xavier?”

“But of course!”

“But you're a girl! Why the male name?”

Xavier sighs. “My family is weird. Just...don't ask. Please. Anyway, this will be a one-on-one battle. The prize,” she says, holding up a Pokeball, “is in here.”

“What is it?”

“Wait and see. First, you must defeat my trusty Gallade!”
