Title: A rocky start
Description: Yes, it's a bad pun

FNPH - May 2, 2008 08:06 PM (GMT)
(OOC: I'll be working pokemon I get in promos into my posts if that's alright.)

I left Professor Melinda's lab in a hurry, staring at the pokeball in my hand. As the vegetation thinned out I found myself at the base of a huge mountain. Stopping abruptly to take in the magnificent view I dropped the pokeball and Mudkip sprang out to greet me.
"So, we'll be travelling together from now on, then. We might as well make a start on this big hill."
Together we walked for a while, Mudkip scrabbling over the rocks. Something in the distance glinted, curiously I approached it and realised that it was a small pool of water among the rocks. Without warning something shot out of the water, followed immediately by another shape. I turned to find a Carvanha flopping helplessly on the ground and behind it, a shiny Carvanha?!
The pair were a pitiful sight, I had to help them. I pulled an empty pokeball out of my pocket and caught the ordinary Carvanha first. Before my eyes the shiny one started to deform and change colour, leaving a bright blue puddle at my feet. The puddle smiled at me. Of course, it wasn't a Carvanha at all, it was a shiny Ditto. The Ditto had apparently taken to me and squeaked happily as it climbed along my now outstretched arm and up onto my head, where it took the form of a blue baseball cap. It was suprisingly comfortable.
So, before I've even got to know Mudkip I've gained two new team mates. Off I went again, up the mountain, with my strangely blue team. After about 15 minutes of walking something in the corner of my eye shifted close to the ground. This is going to be a long day.

OOC: Fine by me!

Oddly enough, it shifts again, whatever it is. After pondering for a moment, you come to the realization that it's only a shadow. But a shadow has to belong to something, right? You track it with your eyes, which are drawn to an odd-shaped tree between two rocks. Wait...was that tree even there a second ago?

The tree winks at you slyly.

Bonsly. James Bonsly.

"Mudkip, you're on. Give it a growl to weaken its attack, then hit with a mud-slap."
I watched as my little blue companion growled at the Bonsly and readied its mud-slap, hoping that he'd be able to cope with this first battle.

Caffeinated Doom - May 5, 2008 09:34 AM (GMT)
Mudkip prowls toward the Bonsly, then swaps the "p" for a "g." Growltastic! Bonsly's mud is slapped. Super effective damage and accuracy reduction...pretty sweet. Bonsly starts to cry! But those tears are more of a lie than cake. Fake Tears! There goes Mudkip's special defense.

...luckily for it, Bonsly doesn't learn any special attacks. :XD:

FNPH - May 5, 2008 06:37 PM (GMT)
Damn, what now? Mudkip's young and inexperienced, I don't think he'll be able to pull off water gun yet and tackle is definitely not an option. Maybe...
"Mudkip, take it easy for a while." I held out the pokeball and Mudkip vanished in a beam of red light. "Ditto, do your thing!"
My cap leapt off my head and transformed into a Bonsly, identical to the wild one in every way except colour. So, not that identical at all.
"Give it a taste of it's own medicine. Fake tears."
I watched in apprehension, hoping that my tactics would work.

(Let's see if they do!)

Your Dittsly (Ditto + Bonsly :P) used Fake Tears... and amazingly.. the Bonsly fell for it's own game and quickly tried to settle your Ditto down. Your Ditto sat there, bawling it's eyes out, as it does not know which attack to use next since it was not instructed. What shall you do before the Bonsly figures out the trick?

FNPH - May 6, 2008 07:06 AM (GMT)
"Ditto, return. Mudkip, go, use mud-slap again!"
Ditto climbed back up onto my head and settled back as my cap. Mudkip flashed out of his pokeball and a wad of mud sped towards Bonsly. Hopefully, it should do a lot more damage this time.

Caffeinated Doom - May 6, 2008 04:51 PM (GMT)
Bonsly tries to avoid being hurt by the muck that hurtles toward it...but the damage is done. Literally. :XD: It tries to imitate Mudkip by using Copycat, but it misses. The Bonsly's a male, though, so it's a mister. So I guess the move mister.

FNPH - May 6, 2008 08:34 PM (GMT)
I watched the Bonsly try to attack Mudkip, thinking to myself.
This battle's going on too long. Carvanha's pretty much useless in this rocky landscape and Ditto can only do what Bonsly does, which doesn't seem to be a lot. I can't keep using Mud-slap, it'll become to predictable.
"Mudkip, I want you to try using Water Gun. See if we can't finish this thing off quickly."

Caffeinated Doom - May 11, 2008 04:14 PM (GMT)
Mudkip waters the tree...which is somehow super effective!

Bonsly's skin is hardly hard, so it hardens to make it harder. Hardy. The best offense is a good defense...or is it the other way around? Eh, who cares? Let's just eat turkey.

FNPH - May 11, 2008 06:27 PM (GMT)
As I watched the Bonsly tense itself up, I realised something. Bonsly had only tried to actually hurt Mudkip once. Knowing that Bonsly could learn Flail I decided it would be best to stop Bonsly making contact at all if possible. Time to try to lower the accuracy again and set in a bit of confusion. Hopefully at least one of the effects would stick.
"Mudkip, use Mud-slap again and follow it up with a Water Pulse."
I crossed my fingers as mud flew towards the little Bonsly.

Caffeinated Doom - May 20, 2008 04:55 AM (GMT)
There is mud on Bonsly's face. Literally. It squeals shrilly, and again even louder when Water Pulse hits. The cries become more faint, however, when it uses Faint Attack. Mudkip doesn't faint, at least.

FNPH - May 20, 2008 03:53 PM (GMT)
Mudkip looked to be flagging a bit, he needed a rest. Fortunately I had a perfect replacement.
"Mudkip, whirlpool and return! Ditto, do your thing and use low kick."
If Mudkip could trap Bonsly in a whirlpool, Ditto should have no problem.

Dark - May 28, 2008 11:13 PM (GMT)
Bonsly gets trapped in the whirling vortex of water, and it is super effective! Ditto, or Bonsly number 2, kicked the Bonsly and made it trip, dramatic!

FNPH - May 29, 2008 11:05 AM (GMT)
It it me like a ton of bricks. Apart frm only two or three moves, I had no idea what Bonsly, and therefore my Ditto, was capable of. I cast around in my head for ideas frantically until I remembered Bonsly used Faint Attack on Mudkip earlier.
"Ditto, hit it with a faint attack. Then, erm, low kick again."

Kazokumaru - June 1, 2008 01:36 AM (GMT)
Your Dittobonsly begins to fake a broken ankle, and the concerned Bonsly comes forth to see if your Ditto is ok, only to get knocked in the chin!

Where is a chin on a Bonsly you ask? I'm not sure!

You then go to get a Low Kick, but the Bonsly brings in a Brick Break at the same time! You both hit at the same tiem, and fly backwards in a Tekken -esque manner!

Also, whirlpool hurts Bonsly.
