Chapter 1: The Hidden City
"Darn... Is it morning already?" Four-eyes moaningly asked herself. "Oh well... Gotta go watch Sonic X anyway."
As she got dressed, she thought "My life sure's changed since I got to Duckburg. Now, I don't have to get up so early. But I have to speak English all the time...! Hey! I never actually wondered this... How is Portugal on this dimension? Well, can't be worse than the Portugal I come from."
She heard Donald call her from downstairs. "Hey! The Sonic... thing has just started!"
She was finally ready. "Um, since when do you want me to watch Sonic X so badly?"
"Well, it's better than Pokémon."
The cartoons were what made Four-eyes' life in Duckburg really enjoyable. One of her favourites was Pokémon. All those battles make her and also Huey, Dewey and Louie dream. They often thought "What if Pokémon really existed? We could all be trainers... Travel together, or battle each other."
Often, Donald and her other niece, Clover, stopped them from dreaming; they didn't quite like Pokémon, not even the games.
But still, some minutes later, they started dreaming again.
Clover knew where this subject usually ended up: flamings. And even though she didn't exactly despise violence, it's not very
pleasant to fight at breakfast.
"Huh... Is Old Cheesy eating here today?"
By "Old Cheesy", she meant Uncle Scrooge. And we all know who he is.
"Not really. But he said he might drop by."
"And then con us up a meal..."
Later that day, Clover's "prophecy" proved itself right.
"What's up, Unca Scrooge? You seem worried." Huey, Dewey and Louie thought Scrooge was not normal. He wasn't eating that much, when he usually wiped out a plate in a minute or two.
He blushed. "Oh, er, it's nothing. Been busy, that's it..."
Clover frowned. "Well, -I- don't blush when I'm busy."
"Maybe that's because you're never busy," Four-eyes taunted.
"Oh, shut up, Four-eyes." Clover and Four-eyes didn't get along very well. Maybe that's what get for being the result of a failed experiment, at least on Clover's eyes.
"Why don't you...," Huey started.
"...both...," Dewey continued.
"...shut up?," Louie finished.
Donald interrupted. "Er... Let's just see what's on the TV."
He turned on that old TV. It was probably older than the house itself, as it was Scrooge's, but it still worked just fine.
Scrooge agreed. "Yes, let's watch the news or something..." The boys just couldn't avoid thinking he was... different. Now he actually agreed with his nephew.
"Following in the News: Strange activity detected nearby the City Park, more specifically, in the Dark Forest. Exclusively here, on channel SMD..."
Four-eyes giggled. "Exclusively? Usually, that means you can watch it in every single cha... Mr. Scrooge?"
Now everyone was sure: something definitly happened. Scrooge was as pale as a ghost, and sweating all over. "Huh... I... I... Look, I gotta go. See you tomorrow!"
He rushed outside. He didn't seem to notice something fell from his pocket. It was bright red, with a flashy blue light.
"That thing... Looks just like that thing from Pokémon...," Donald said, as he approached what seemed to be a "Non-Existant" object: a Pokédex. But before he could pick it up, Scrooge came in again and picked it up himself.
"Oh, you all, almost forgot: Tomorrow, 2.00 pm, City Park." Scrooge left before saying anything else. Everyone had that single thought in their mind; What was Scrooge up to? And what did he know that they didn't?
The next day, Scrooge was already waiting for them at the park.
"Where are we going, Uncle?" The boys asked him.
"Get a little fresh air. We all know how polluted are cities these days, don't we?"
That was very suspicious. Also, nobody else was at the park because -someone- closed it a few days ago.
And off they went. Always deeper and deeper into the park, with the boys admiring the flora and fauna, Donald sighing, FE whining and Clover snorting.
"Uncle Chee-- er, Scrooge, I don't think we're in the park anymore," Clover whispered loudly enough for everyone to hear. "This looks more like the Dark Forest..."
Scrooge nodded. "You're right. The park was... Um... Still too polluted."
Four-eyes groaned. "Ok, we've all had enough. What the heck is going on??"
The boys looked up. Something was flying just above them, and Four-eyes was on its way. "Look out!"
"Eek!" The huge bird took her on its feet.
"Quack! It's an eagle," Donald quacked.
Clover frowned. "No, it's not. It's a falcon, obviously." She liked to think she knew it all. What else could you expect from a wanna-be scientist?
"Louie, lend me the binocullars," Dewey said determinedly. He looked through them... But he couldn't believe his eyes.
"Um, guys... You're not gonna believe this... It's... a Fearow!"
Clover and Donald seemed confused. "A Fee... What?"
"Fearow. It's a Pokémon," Huey replied. "Let's go after it!"
Scrooge stopped them. "Wait! Wait! What's all that hurry for?"
"We gotta save her..."
"Now, come on. We don't need to run. Let's go... Slowly..."
Meanwhile, aboard the Fearow...
"I can't believe this... Pokémon do exist! I can't wait to start my journey and... Hey, why am I so excited? It's a wild, big, slightly scary and probably hungry Fearow! Help! Hey, don't let me fall... Watch out... ARGH!"
Down below, Louie looked up...
"Oh, no, the Fearow dropped her! Hurry up, we gotta save her!..."
"I thought I already told not to run!"
"Whatever you say." Donald sighed.
Back up there, the Fearow came back and caught Four-eyes. This time, he let her sit on his back. He also seemed be holding
something in his mouth.
"...Rrow..." That cry was not agressive. Actually, Four-eyes could swear it was gentle.
"Whoa! Coke and chips? A-are those for me? Um... Thanks." She was quite shy with people she didn't know. But now, she felt that the Fearow was no danger. Maybe... it wasn't even wild...
**
Huey sighed. "We're hopeless. That mumbo-jumbo-oversized thing must've eaten her by now."
"Pokémon don't eat people!" Scrooge corrected.
"How do you know, Uncle Cheesy?"
"It's none of your business... UNCLE CHEESY?"
"I can see them! They're right there," Donald yelled.
"Onto how many pieces is she sliced?" Dewey asked.
Clover was... disturbed. "They're... having tea..."
Scrooge smiled. "Great, Fearow. I knew you'd do it!"
"What? It's yours??" Huey, Dewey and Louie asked surprised.
"It was all a plan. Now follow me."
Four-eyes finally noticed them. "Does that include me and the possibly-yours-Fearow?" Everyone stared at her. "Oh, I didn't know anything, I only figured it out a while ago..."
A while later, Scrooge stopped.
"Well, this is the spot. You all stand here, now, and... Open!"
Apparently, it was a trap door. They fell and started sliding on a metallic, human-made tunnel. When they landed, there was a great surprise waiting.
"Wow!"
"Whoa!"
Donald whistled. "I might actually like this..."
Scrooge smiled confidently. "Welcome to Pokéburg."

Disclaimer: I own Four-eyes, Clover and Pokéburg. And to my knowledge, I also own channel SMD. I do not own the Dark Forest,
it was actually created by the almighty creator of Scrooge, Duckburg, etecetera: Carl Barks.
