After trudging through the hot sand and glaring sunlight for ages with no sign of life, you notice red, glowing flames up ahead. Probably just another mirage... But as you get closer, the sight does not disappear. The flames are so tall that you cannot see past them. They form a large circle. Despite the size of the flames, they seem to be burning in a controlled manner. A Slugma sits in front of the ring of fire, as if guarding it. He stares blankly into space.

His eyes shift toward you. "I am the guardian of the Elemental Spirit Guardian! Only those who are deemed worthy shall enter this altar!" He pauses for dramatic effect.

Suddenly he looks disheartened. "Ah, what's the use? You're the first human I've seen for weeks, so you're obviously worthy. Go ahead in." He moves to the side. But the flames still burn as strong as ever.

Noticing your confusion, Slugma speaks once again. "Just walk through them. They aren't real flames. It's just a gathering of spiritual energy manipulated to look like fire. Kindra's idea. Isn't it brilliant? If this were a real fire, you wouldn't be able to get this close because of the heat."

Indeed, you did not feel any heat even though you were standing right next to the circle. You slowly step into the flames... The temperature is moderate. When you passed through the flames, instead of a desert, you find a white marble altar. There is no ceiling. The sky is dark and starry. Atop the altar sits a silver pokeball. Floating above it is a guardian!

She drifts down to your level. "I am Kindra. And you must be another trainer who thinks they are worthy to seek my aid. We'll see."

As you prepare to call forth your Pokémon, Kindra begins to speak. "Ready? 1... 2... 3... scissors!" Noticing your confusion, she laughs. "Oh, so it was a Pokémon battle you were expecting? Don't you trainers ever get tired of battling all the time? But then again, I suppose my lack of hands does make it difficult to play rock, paper scissors. So we'll do it your way. Prepare for battle!"


Choose one Pokémon to use in this battle. Remember, you will not be allowed to switch out. Kindra will summon the spirit of a fire type Pokémon to battle you. The spirit fire type Pokémon has no different abilities or weaknesses than if it were an ordinary fire type.
