Isobela Niht, a skittish teenager with more of a lanky bodice than a slim figure, paced hesitantly into the lab. Her pale blue eyes darted across the room, absorbing everything from the clean, white tiles to the clean, white cloaks that the Aides donned. "Er...," she mumbled, her catchphrase for when she wasn't sure what to say.

One of the Aides looked up from where he had been staring at his feet, trying to peer around the large boxes gathered precariously in his arms. "You can let out some of the Pokémon to decide what you'd like," he supplied helpfully, flashing a supportive smile before bustling down the aisle. Isobela watched him go, then took a tentative step towards the table that held an assortment of crisp Poké Balls. their ivory and claret faces each sporting a button with an emblem embroidered into it.

Reaching out, Isobela's slender, dainty fingers wrapped around one of the spherical devices. She awkwardly pressed down on the button protruding slightly from its front and jumped when a crimson beam shot out from it. A dark, gaseous figure emerged from the Poké Ball, giving a maniacal laugh that made Isobela scuttle back a few steps. She quickly recalled it, quickly setting it back down on the table with a couple furtive glances around.

Isobela scooped up a second Poké Ball, releasing, this time, a four-legged Pokémon that didn't cackle in her face. The Cydaquil stared up as the young woman for a moment, wary and apprehensive. Then, with a sudden squeak of delight, he threw himself at Isobela, latching pathetically onto her arm. Shaking the limb vigorously, cold eyes wide with surprise, she struggled to remove the fiery hedgehog but it just wouldn't let go.

"Fine," sighed Isobela reluctantly, halting her fight to get the thing off. She gathered it up in her arms, jamming the Poké Ball in her belt, and left.
