Title: NPCs and Journey Partners

NPC
Thanks to a suggestion by Fire Starter and Angie, you can have an NPC in your journey.

What is an NPC? It's a non-player character. In other words, it's an imaginary person who travels on your journey with you. If you choose to have an NPC, a moderator will add the NPC's name in your profile just for reference. Your NPC can do pretty much whatever you want them to as long as you follow these simple rules:
  • Each member can have no more than 1 NPC.
  • An NPC cannot give you items, money, Pokémon, etc.
  • An NPC cannot be a Pokémon.
  • An NPC cannot own a Pokémon.
  • Your NPC can, however, use your Pokémon.
If you want an NPC to join you in your journey, all you have to do is add it into one of your replies. Please make an OOC note at the beginning of your post to make it clear that you are adding a new NPC. You can also get rid of your current NPC in the same way.

Journey Partners
Unlike an NPC, a journey partner is a real member of the site who teams up with you. The two of you share the same journey. But partners will always have separate profiles, no matter how certain you are that you will always travel together. At this time, you may have no more than one journey partner.

If you are starting a new journey topic, decide which of you will make the first post. The second person can then reply. Then a moderator will reply.

Ideally, that's how it should go throughout your whole journey; one partner posts, then the other, then a moderator. But unfortunately, people have lives outside the Internet. (Shocking, I know!) One partner may not be online as often as the other. Therefore, you are not required to wait for your partner to post before continuing on.

On a journey with two partners traveling together, you will often run into two wild Pokémon or two trainer Pokémon at a time, though this doesn't always have to happen. In a 2 vs. 2 battle, you and your partner should each send out one Pokémon. You can attack whichever opponent you want, even if your partner has already attacked it. If you defeat one of your opponents, you can both continue battling the remaining opponent.

In Elemental Spirit Guardian altars, you will face two opponents. If you win, both of you will have the Guardian added to your profile. Though it seems a bit illogical to the storyline since there is only one of each Guardian, this is done in case one partner goes inactive or the two of you decide to no longer be partners. That way, one person doesn't walk away with all the Guardians while the other has none. But for as long as the two of you are together, you should roleplay as if only one of each Guardian exists.

Most of you have already begun a journey on your own. You do not have to wait until you finish on your current route before adding a partner to your journey. The first option that you have is that one of you closes your journey and joins the other person's journey. Or you could both close your current journey and start a new one. You will not have to give up any Elemental Spirit Guardians you may have obtained. But at the same time, you also will not gain any Guardians your partner may already have obtained. This is done so that, for example, a new member could not gain six Guardians simply by partnering with someone who has been playing longer.

If one or both of the partners is a staff member, there still needs to be another staff member replying in between.

To find a journey partner or to let the moderators know if you've already chosen one, post in the Journey Partners forum under the RPG Extras section.
