Title: Ideas for the 5th Generation of Pokemon.

Suppi - October 8, 2007 04:54 AM (GMT)
What do you think Nintendo are gonna start basing their pokemon on o.O They've done heaps of animals already >< Maybe they could start basing their pokemon on more myths or ancient gods/goddesses [sp?].

A hummingbird pokemon would be cool ;D. Or maybe a Zebra pokemon ;o!

Well, when the 4th generation first came out and it ended with Arceus, who was considered a "god Pokémon," I thought that was the end of the line right there. (Except, of course, for my own downloadable Pokémon Universe, but that's still 43 years away.) Now that I think about it, though, they can't just let a multi-billion-dollar franchise crash into the ground after being wildly popular for over a decade.

I'm wondering what the 5th generation games are going to be called. They've used enough jewel names already. I was thinking about Garnet, but for some reason that just sounds way off.

First generation: 1996 to 1999
Second generation: 2000 to 2002
Third generation: 2003 to 2006
Fourth generation: 2007 to 2009?
Fifth generation: 2010? to 2013?

Well, I've heard that Nintendo plans to make at least one Pokémon for every last animal out there. Seems a bit impossible to me, unless they do it by descriptions like 'bird', 'monkey', and 'fish'.

I have always wanted a Fenrir Pokémon. I've even made some, but never entered them in spriting contests here.

They could do a pokemon based on a flamingo... *is shot* Or maybe an ice cream cone... yum. They do need to make a baby pokemon for Kangaskhan... Well, as you can see with the fourth generation, they seemed to struggle with the creativity. There were a lot of evolutions of previous pokemon and a lot of legendaries.

Suppi - October 9, 2007 02:48 AM (GMT)
They should do some animals that havent been done yet ><; As much as i like cats, they could replace one with a different type animal, eg a flamingo [which magmabuzz said above] ^^;.

They should get a JYNX evo. It's only fair seeing how electrabuzz and magmar got evo's. And Jynx is like... way cool xD!

Shadow of Regice - October 9, 2007 03:05 AM (GMT)
they should expand the the ghost and poisons.... a sewer area, graveyard pokemon, like grim reapers, leeches, bone pokemon, worm pokemon, and zombie pokemons. and more!!!! they should also have krill pokemon, and squid/octopuses. and coral pokemon....

Not necessarily. Diamond and Pearl complement third gen the same way G/S/C complemented first gen. (Which makes sense, considering both sets of games are set three years after the others.) Both have a lot of evolutions and baby forms to older Pokemon. And some of the legendaries are pretty neat. Even I have to admit that, and I'm not a huge fan of legendaries. The fact that they created more legendaries and pre-evos/evos of existing Pokemon doesn't necessarily mean they're running short on creativity. It could simply mean that they're harnessing the creativity in a different way.

I agree about the Jynx evo and the Kangaskhan pre-evo, though. (Maybe they could make the Kangaskhan pre-evo both male and female, and the males could evolve into something different. Or nothing at all, like the male Combees...)

Squid Pokemon? Already exists. (Well, octupus - evolved form of Remoraid, blanking on the name. Close enough, anyway.) Same for coral. (Corsola.)

What I want to see is a Furret evo. I love Furret, since ferrets are awesome and I want to own one (or many) as a pet someday. However, its stats are terrible. Could also be cool if they duel-typed the evo...hmm.

Also, red panda Poke, please. Or just a panda Pokemon in general...but I'm personally fonder of red pandas. Dunno why...I'm just insane like that.

It would also be cool if they did...not god/goddess Pokemon, necessarily, but more Pokemon based on mythological creatures. Japanese mythology or otherwise. A tanuki-based Pokemon would be nifty to complement Vulpix/Ninetales' kitsune basis, since both foxes and raccoon dogs are big in Japanese folklore. (Interestingly enough, both are also tricksters and can transform...kind of reminds me of the Native American stories with the...coyote and the fox, or summat. Man, my mythology is uber-rusty.)

I guess you could argue that Zigzagoon's a tanuki Pokemon, but as far as I can tell, the origin is more raccoon-based than tanuki, and tanuki are canines. (Tangentially, however, pandas are believed to be closer related to raccoons than bears. Makes a lot of sense if you look at a red panda, actually. Just something that I find interesting.)

...Man. Now I want to go look through my old animal fact files and see if I can find any other animals that would make good Pokemon. A little sad. (There's not really a dolphin Pokemon yet, is there? That would be cool...)

but a grass pokemon or a tree pokemon would be awesome. As well as having a set of evolutions that help each other evolve... Like the thing that is on slowbro's tail!! that must be a pokemon! it would also be cool if you could have a computer pokemon... that was actually a computer not porygon.

Spinda is a panda pokemon (: But i would like another - more panda looking pokemon ^^.

They also based Froslass on some Japanese snow woman

QUOTE
Its body resembles that of a kimono, especially due to the fact that the red around its waist is similar to that of an obi. It attacks prey and unsuspecting victims in icy snowstorms, where its Snow Cloak ability allows it to go unseen (yuki-onna are said to have skin so pale that they can actually blend into their snow-covered surroundings)

The thing on Slowpoke's tail is a Shellder...and now there's one Pokemon that evolves that way. The Mantine baby...evolves when a Remaroid is in party.

Oh yeah...forgot about Spinda. Still not very familiar with all the third gen Pokemon, let alone the fourth gen ones... :sweatdrop: (Although the latter is helped by the fact that I'm ACTUALLY PLAYING PEARL GASP.) But you're right...Spinda doesn't really look like a giant panda, let alone a red panda. (Also, it's stats aren't all that great, if I recall correctly.)
