Title: Cloning In DP
Suppi - August 6, 2007 08:03 AM (GMT)
[Just telling you I did not write this, my friend did, and he tells me it works ONLY if you have WIFI and it requires the GTS]
1. You go to the GTS in Jubilife City.
2. Log onto Wifi.
3. Click the Button which says, Deposit Pokemon.
4. Choose an impossible pokemon which no-one will have. A good choice would be a level 9 or under Mew - since you cannot get a mew under level 10 legally, and nintendo have made it impossible for you to get a level 9 mew. [Thank you to UmbreonGT for this information x)]
5. Start the trade. At the bottom right of the screen there is a little clock timer thing.. wait until it goes around between 7 and 8 times then turn your power off. The problem is, you have to turn off the power a split second before it shows the little pokeball flying upwards.. You can't even let the screen go dark.
6. Turn back on the power
7. If you did it right, there should be a blue screen saying your file is corrupted. Don't worry, your game has double back up saves, your game won't get hurt.
8. Log back onto Wifi quickly so you don't lose your pokemon.
9. If you did everything perfectly, there should be your pokemon on wifi, and in your box.
NOTES:
Make Sure you take your pokemon back so it isn't traded away!
Always make rediculous trades so hackers don't steal your beloved pokemon!
If the blue screen doesn't come up, then you turned off the power to late, and it won't be cloned.
If the blue screen coms up, but you have no pokemon on wifi, then you turned off the power to early.
Always test how strong your connection is by doing this with a worthless pokemon but don't turn your power off, just watch the clock.
Remember, timing is everything, so don't be disapointed. I myslef have cloned 6 pokemon but have tried overe 30 times.
Last but not least, good luck with it! Hope this helped..

| 4. Choose an impossible pokemon which noone will have. Make sure it is Level 100, and has a gender. Tentacruel, Sunkern, Cascoon, Silcoon, Wurmple and Wingull are good choices. |
WRONG! Those are not impossible, and when some hacker or jokester catches you off guard with them, you will be sorry. The real thing you need to imput is Mew lv 9 & under. This Pokémon is impossible to get legitimately under lv 10, and consquently, Nintendo has made it impossible to trade for a Mew under lv 10 over the GTS.
I just thought I should mention this to prevent anyone from losing their Pokémon.

I haven't tried this glitch myself, and I'd prefer not to. I heard it was dangerous, so that's why I'm weary of even attempting it.
Here's a tip i heard somewhere: Place the pokemon in the GTS and watch the clock, counting the times it revolves. Don't try the cloning yet, let the pokemon go in. Remember how many times the clock went around. Now you know how long it takes for it to get to that spot. Take out your pokemon, and try the cloning the second time. Also, be sure to place your DS on a hard, unmoving surface like a desk or a table. Moving the DS changes the time the clock moves around, hence making it hard to clone efficiently.

I haven't tried cloning in D/P, but it shouldn't be that dangerous since the game uses a back up save file (which is actually why the cloning works in this case). Even if you screw up the cloning, your Pokémon will either still be in the GTS (if shut off too early) or in your party/box (if shut off too late).

well really cloning is just a desacration of your work; cloning ensures that your poke is no longer an individual one of a kid (there are 497 pokes and 6 IVs wich means it's 497 to the power of six (497*497*497*497*497*497) then x amount of moves; you take the number of moves (x) and do that do the power of 4 x*x*x*x; then divivde the outcome of x*x*x*x by 2 (because some pokes can't learn moves so the outcome will be an estimate) and then the thing that really sets pokes apart is EVs; and then you have to use the actual number of the IVs to the power of 31); then you have natures and so fourth in other words there are milllions and millions of unique types of pokes and to clone makes it to where your poke is no longer an unique combonation thats one is several million; just a thought for anyone who trys to clone

Update: Apparently some hackers have recently been able to trade level 1 Mews, so people should probably no longer put lv 9 & under Mew as their want. People will just have to be quick & careful if they plan on cloning.

Of course, you could only clone Pokemon you don't mind losing instead. Not so much point to that, mind...or you could put something you wouldn't mind getting in place of your Pokemon as what you want. Mind, that only applies in cases where there's something you wouldn't mind in exchange. If a Pokemon's priceless to you, you should be careful regardless.
Interesting stuff, though. I'll have to test it out, at least, though probably just to see if it works at first. (And that'll have to wait until I can make a trip to somewhere with WiFi, since I don't have it at home.)
As for what Wynn said, I agree, for the most part. I like seeing how these things work just out of curiosity, otherwise I probably wouldn't bother trying. However, there are cases where it might be worth looking into, like if you have a desirable shiny or rare; however, I do not think that you should mass-clone even then - maybe just a few copies for yourself and maybe some close friends. (Gah. I should've cloned my shiny Eevee on Gold before evolving it. Having an army of shiny Eeveelutions would be awesome, if not entirely legit. My shiny Umbreon is 100% legit, though...I'm not opposed to using glitches, but cheating devices are a bit much. And of course, if you were cloning rares/shinies, there would be some definite risk involved. I guess it's a trade-off, then.)

Eh, it sounds a bit too risky for me. I don't want to end up losing one of my good Pokémon OR getting banned from Wifi. Both are terrible, terrible ways to go.
Wynn - October 2, 2007 08:10 PM (GMT)
my guess is since the new gts site they have also installed some filters and stuff to start banning illegal pokes like pbr

hey and if i , I don't know accidently steal your precious pokemon with my lv 2 mews :innocent:
please tell me and I'll return it for no price at all  i promise but if it isnt well thats no skin off your nose :) unless if its against DD rules then of course i wouldnt do it
and hey i think of it as a punishment system if they want to cheat and make millions of shiny pokemon then thats their falt
but anyway ya it could be risky to do that
