Title: Disadvantages Are What I Need
Description: I train better against them.

Alma Altars - July 5, 2007 02:23 AM (GMT)
As I slowly walked along Borealis Mountain's Peak, I remembered why I came in the first place. My only Pokémon was my Dragonair. One of Dragons' two weaknesses is Ice, so I thought I'd rather collect my Pokémon by the difficulty I would face in doing so. I let my pal out so he could travel with me, and so I wouldn't have to let him out in case of a battle.

"Wow, look around, Dragonair. See all of the ice?" It looked at me angrily, and I knew it had realized I was poking fun at its weakness. "It's okay, Dragonair. We can survive anything together!" I looked around, then we both started to move on when suddenly...

Fire Starter - July 5, 2007 04:00 AM (GMT)
A snorunt came ambling up to you. It wanted a battle. Oh did it want a battle. It was going to start things off to! It used a Hail attack. Damage each turn for you little ol' dragonair! Muha! pwned you didnt it :3 not really but still..

I guess that means it is now your turn to attack! Huzzah!

Alma Altars - July 5, 2007 04:09 AM (GMT)
"Hm..." I was thinking to myself. "Snorunt evolves into either Glalie, or if it's a girl and I have a Dawn Stone, a Frolass. Frolass is riddled with weaknesses, while Glalie has only 4, Fighting, Rock, Steel, and Fire. Thus, its gender doesn't matter to me. A strategy's what I need... Ah! I got it!"

"Dragonair, you ready?" Dragonair nodded. "Okay, Dragonair! Use your Dragon Rush! With any luck, it will make Snorunt flinch, and we can attack again!"

Fire Starter - July 5, 2007 04:44 AM (GMT)
Your dragonair speeds up its body and smashes into the Snorunt. Damage. And wow.. the randomizer loves you. It flinched as well! I guess this ends Snorunts turn for now! You just wait! It will come back and bite you :3 lol..

Alma Altars - July 5, 2007 06:08 PM (GMT)
"Wow, that worked surprizingly well! If I throw a Pokéball now, even though I've done damage, it isn't likely to work. I should try to paralyze it or something first." Then I remembered that Dragonair learns Thunder Wave as one of its first moves.

"I got it! Okay, Dragonair, think you can use a Thunder Wave?" Dragonair turned to me and smiled. "Good! Let's go, Dragonair, use your Thunder Wave!" The sooner I could capture a Pokémon like this, the better.

Magmabuzz - July 5, 2007 09:29 PM (GMT)
Dragonair releases a few electric waves that surround Snorunt, paralyzing it. Snorunt attempts to use Ice Beam but paralysis deams it useless. The hail continues to pelt you, but more importantly, your pokemon as well. Dragonair recieves a slim amount of damage.

Alma Altars - July 5, 2007 11:02 PM (GMT)
"Dragonair, are you okay?" Dragonair twitched, but nodded. That hail would become a problem. I watched as Dragonair's long, blue body was attacked by the small chunks of falling ice. I knew it was suffering.

"We have to end this soon! If you faint, I have nothing left! Not just that, but I can't make it through here without my friend!" I began to think as quickly as I could. "Dragonair may not faint from the Hail damage, but we've only just started out here! Any damage could ruin everything later. Snorunt has been damaged and paralyzed, but that still might not be enough. Well, I don't care! This has to work!"

"Go, Pokéball!" I tossed a Pokéball towards the ice type. "It should be about the same level as Dragonair, so if I catch it, I should be able to make it evolve right away! That will certainly help me get through here!"

Magmabuzz - July 5, 2007 11:08 PM (GMT)
The pokeball hits Snorunt and it is absorbed. But right away, with just a half-wiggle, it hops back out. A pokeball catching a level 40+ Snorunt only effected by paralysis and one Dragon Rush? Not this time. Luckily, Snorunt kicks the ball, and it happens to return to your feet, still able to be used. Snorunt fight's off the Paralysis and uses Blizzard. That's a miss.

Alma Altars - July 5, 2007 11:14 PM (GMT)
"Well, that makes sense, I suppose. At least I get the ball back." I looked to Dragonair. "Okay, we'll have to wrap this up, buddy! Use a twister, but not too much! I wanna catch this one!"

Magmabuzz - July 5, 2007 11:18 PM (GMT)
Fortunately, Twister hits Snorunt. Unfortunately, it's not the greatest of damage. Snorunt recovers from the Twister and fights off the paralysis long enough to use Ice Beam. Some effective damage there! Looks like this Snorunt's a bit tougher than you thought.

Alma Altars - July 5, 2007 11:30 PM (GMT)
I jumped back a bit, caught off guard at the sight of the Ice Beam. Dragonair was fortunate to have survived it. "Hm... I've got it! A combination of attacks! One attack followed directly by another, even if one of the two isn't offensive, is usually a good strategy! Let's see... Ah! That's it!"

"Dragonair! Quickly! Use another Twister!" It looked at me like I'd gone crazy. "Trust me! I know it didn't do much last time, but I'll work this time!" As Dragonair began to whip up the vortex I called out to it again. "Get inside the Twister and drive it forward at Snorunt!" It realized what I was thinking and did as I said.

The Twister moved forward at an alarming rate. "When you get right next to it, release the Twister and use a Dragon Rage! It won't be able to hit you while you're covered by the Twister, and it will be prepared for the Twister's attack, not a Dragon Rage!" I bent over to pick up the Pokéball, and prepared to throw it once more.

Fire Starter - July 6, 2007 01:05 AM (GMT)
Ah. Gotta love that fixed damage. Only 40 hp points worth of damage on that move! But twister was an effective defensive move. Good on ya! However the snorunt wasnt done just yet! It jumped back up and fired off a Icy wind attack.. Damage... and a speed loss there as well! :o smart little snot isnt it!

Alma Altars - July 6, 2007 01:33 AM (GMT)
"That's it! Go, Pokéball! I have to get this Snorunt!" I threw the red and white ball up into the air and it fell downward toward the Snorunt. "You're mine," I said, "at least I hope so."

Fire Starter - July 6, 2007 03:10 AM (GMT)
The snorunt simply dodged the pokeball. She was not going to be caught that fast! She wanted to play some more!

She jumped back up, surprisingly fast for someone who is paralized right?! She used a powder snow attack.. ;-; luckly it missed o_O wow.. lol

Alma Altars - July 7, 2007 12:57 AM (GMT)
"Dang! Now I'm down one Pokéball! I really have to buy more at the next town now." If I could only find the ball, I might be able to reuse it, but I was way too busy right now.

"Dragonair! I'm tired of this! This Ice Type has a lot of health, so let's make sure to knock it down a lot this time! Dragon Rush once more, but don't make it faint!"

Hawkstorm - July 7, 2007 02:03 AM (GMT)
Dragonair used her long, snake-like body to slam into the Snorunt, making it slip in the snow and fall over.

It was trapped on it's back.

Grunting a little, the Snorunt tried to aim a Powder Snow again, but all it ended up doing was giving itself a layer of snow on top.

Alma Altars - July 7, 2007 02:08 AM (GMT)
"Okay, really this time. I'm tired of this. Go Pokéball. Dragonair, take this moment to note my lack of enthusiasm. Note that I really just toss the Pokéball, not 'throw' *tosses*. See?" Dragonair looked at me akwardly, like it couldn't tell if I was joking. "You'd understand if you were human. Now, let's go through the suspensful part of just staring at the ball hoping it will be caught." *Looks*

Magmabuzz - July 7, 2007 04:43 PM (GMT)
Snorunt is absorbed into the ball, and the ball begins to wiggle. Snorunt is caught! Level 39 and male, Snorunt should be a competitive fighter. Do you want to give him a nickname? You pick up the ball and continue down the path until a :swinub: blocks your way.

Alma Altars - July 8, 2007 02:49 AM (GMT)
(OOC: Nope, no nickname is okay.)

"Hm... Swinub, huh? Well, I could use Dragonair again, hypothetically, but I need to level up Snorunt before I can evolve it. Ice moves aren't very effective on Ice types, but Ice moves are super effective on Ground types. That means my Snorunt would do average damage to Swinub with Ice moves, whereas Swinub couldn't do much to Snorunt with its own Ice moves." I grabbed Snorunt's Pokéball. "Go, Snorunt!" Snorunt popped out and shuddered. I awaited Swinub's attack.

Silverpelt - July 8, 2007 09:17 AM (GMT)
The little Swinub looked at you with determined eyes, and drew mud up to use a mud bomb. It hit your Snorunt avaragely, btu made it hit into a icy wall.

Alma Altars - July 9, 2007 01:49 AM (GMT)
"Heh. Pretty good! Snorunt?" Snorunt looked at me as it regained its footing after the attack. "You think you can do an Ice Fang? It's a great strategy! Average power, plus it can Freeze or make your foe Flinch! Or in rare cases, both. But if your foe's frozen, it probably won't be able to attack anyway, so..." I rambled on for a moment, but then realized I should cammand Snorunt before both Pokémon fell asleep. "Snorunt! Use your Ice Fang!"

Magmabuzz - July 9, 2007 04:35 PM (GMT)
Swinub used Endure. It's not going down this round. Allthough it never was going down this round in the first place. Snorunt's Ice fand does some decent damage. That's all for this round.

Alma Altars - July 9, 2007 10:38 PM (GMT)
"Well, then we're gonna just have to keep attacking! Snorunt!" I called out to Snorunt to make sure it was paying attention. "Use another Ice Fang! It's our best strategy!"

Magmabuzz - July 10, 2007 03:27 AM (GMT)
The randomizer deems a flinch! Decent damage as well. Swinub's attempted attack obviously fails. Not looking good for the pig thingy...

Alma Altars - July 10, 2007 03:35 AM (GMT)
"Well, Snorunt, let's use a Blizzard!" I wanted to show A|Snorunt I knew what I was doing, but I wasn't really sure I did. "And don't go lightly, I want to level you up, not catch it."

Magmabuzz - July 10, 2007 03:45 AM (GMT)
*fishes out randomizer*

Blizzard is deemed a hit. Swinub is fainted! Snorunt gains a level and .5 happiness. A female trainer walks up to you and stares at Snorunt. "Quite a string one here, no?" You stare at her, not sure where she's going with this. "I want to battle you." Now she makes it clear.

Alma Altars - July 10, 2007 04:02 AM (GMT)
"Okaaaaaaaaaay......" I said confused. "Sure. I'll send out my Glalie. You may have the first move since you have yet to send out your Pokémon." I awaited her response.

Magmabuzz - July 10, 2007 04:43 PM (GMT)
"Fine, I'll use my :hariyama: ." She tosssed out a pokeball and out came Hariyama. "Okay, Hariyama, use Arm Thrust." Hariyama promptly punches Glalie, doing some okay super effective damage. However, Glalie was allready incredibly weak and goes down easily. Three hits!

"Ha! That was easy. I hope for your sake your next pokemon isn't so pathetic."

(Sorry, but Glalie was pretty weak from catching it...)

Alma Altars - July 10, 2007 07:23 PM (GMT)
"No!" I returned Glalie, very upset to have already lost my new recruit. "What are you doing using fighting types HERE, anyway?" i was too angry to wait for a response. "Forget it. Go, Dragonair! Dragonair, we have to get out of here FAST, because you're my last Pokémon!"

Magmabuzz - July 13, 2007 08:14 PM (GMT)
"A Dragonair, eh?" the trainer proclaims, interested. You don't see those too often. This should be fun. Hariyama, use Belly Drum." Hariyama begins to pound it's belly much like a gorilla, ridding of half of it's health but raising it's Attack greatly.

Alma Altars - July 13, 2007 09:54 PM (GMT)
"Dragonair! With its attack so high, you'll have to stay away from it. Keep as far away from it as you can." I watched Dragonair fly over far to my left. "Great! Now use a Dragon Rage! Fire it straight at 'em!"

Magmabuzz - July 16, 2007 05:19 PM (GMT)
Some set damage is done to Hariyama, working decently enough.

"Grr... Hariyama, you're not going to lose this one. Use Brine!" Hariyama unleashes the not very effective water type attack, doing some pretty poor damage.

Alma Altars - July 25, 2007 03:57 AM (GMT)
"A Brine? On a Dragon? Whose Pokémon is pathetic now?" I thought to myself for a minute, "Now let's see. Level 40 or so Hariyama. It can't have more than 150 HP, and Dragonair's taken off 40 of that now. So... 3 more of those? Yeah."

I pointed to the Hariyama. "Dragonair! Prepare to use that attack a few more times. It's a sure way outta this battle and on to... Anything BUT this battle!" I shot a quick, determined glance to Dragonair. "You know what to do! Dragon Rage!"

Magmabuzz - July 25, 2007 01:40 PM (GMT)
But Hariyama was ready for this one. It protruded a green barrier, protecting itself from any damage.

"Who's pathetic now..." the trainer mocked you.

Alma Altars - July 25, 2007 09:18 PM (GMT)
"Hm... Still you. Seems your Pokémon doesn't care what you say, it just uses attacks without consulting you at all." I paused and the trainer began to speak again, but I knew exactly what she was about to say. I interupted. "Don't even say that you trained it that way. I hate excuses. Except when I use them. Which seems to be often." I smacked myself on the forehead, realizing I had just made myself seem stupid.

"Dragonair! Are you still okay to fight? That's a tough Hariyama." I stood there thinking quickly. "Do you remember the strategy we used a little while ago?" Dragonair looked confused for a minute, but then realized what I was talking about. It nodded. "Great! Use Twister, get inside of it, travel up to Hariyama, and let loose a Dragon Rage right in its face!"

JayLv99 - July 26, 2007 05:31 AM (GMT)
The attack went off perfectly, up until Hariyama grabbed Dragonair around the middle during the Dragon Rage. The unexpected technique caused Hariyama to take extra damage, but it stunningly held on with 1 HP left. Dragonair however wasn't looking so well, but in response to your distressed glance it seemed to nod as if it had enough strength for one last attack.

Alma Altars - August 25, 2007 12:40 AM (GMT)
I collapsed. In soap opera fashion I began to speak. "Why?! I've given you my life, Dragonair! My life! And what do you do now?! You go and throw away your health to a lowly fighting type! I loveded you, Dragonair! I LOVEDED YOOOOOUUUUU!!!" I got back up and brushed the dirt off my clothes. "Ahem... Now that the theatrics are over... DRAGONAIR! Use your ultimate move!" Dragonair looked puzzled for a moment, but then realized what I had in mind. It nodded, but waited for my confirmation. "That's right! Use DRACO METEOR! Oh, and if you faint, I'm giving all your collectable Star Wars figures to Akane!" Dragonair looked embarrassed at me for a moment, but then turned to Hariyama to perform the attack...

Tenshi - August 25, 2007 06:41 PM (GMT)
In slow motion Dragonair's head rose into the air and it looked up at the sky and focused while it closed it's eyes in deep thought. "I'm doing this for... I'm doing this for... My Star Wars collection!" Dragonair thought to itself then imediatley opened it's eyes and screeched, suddenly some meteor from the sky (Where else?) came pelting down and landed onto the Hariyama, crushing it to a pulp (How mean.). After a matter of minutes the meteor was raised by the strength of Hariyama but it soon gave up and dropped the Meteor. "Oh noes!". The Hariyama was yet again crushed, the trainer dropped to the ground and raised her arms in the air. " My Hariyama! Defeated, I will never be deafeted!" She yelled returning her Hariyama to it's Pokéball, she thrusted around for another Pokéball but soon realised that she had none. " Darn you!" She screeched running off. You patted Dragonair on the back and noticed atleast 650G on the ground, it's not lucky that Dragonair was rolling around in pain screeching like a baby but it's lucky you found some Gold.

[Occ: I know, there is a mistake somewhere, I just can't be bothered to fix it. >_<]

[Edit:// Oh yeah, Dragonair gained 2 levels and 1.0 Happiness.]

Alma Altars - August 29, 2007 01:18 AM (GMT)
"YAY!" I quickly took out my Potion, 7 Rare Candies, and a Water Stone. Dragonair looked strangely at me. "I know, I know. 'What the heck's the Water Stone for?!' No, it isn't for you." Dragonair leaned over drooling at the candies. "No, those aren't for you, either. Dragonair, I think it's about time you metone of our new team members!" I unzipped my backpack and took out two Pokéballs.

"Go! Akane!" I sent out Akane. "Dragonair, meet Akane." I then fed the candies to Akane. (OOC: I already handled this earlier in the forum for it, but I figured I should RP it in here as well) I then used the Potion on Dragonair, seeing as it was so weak. "There you go!"

"Now, let's get going, you guys!" I walked for a minute then paused. "You know what? Chansey should be out here too! I NEED MORE COMPANY!!!" I quickly sent out Chansey. "There, now let's go!"

I began walking again with three of my Pokémon. Akane was on my left, Chansey on my right, and Dragonair was leading the group. Suddenly...

W.T. - August 29, 2007 10:33 AM (GMT)
A trainer named Skyler sidles up to you. He chides you before the battle. "Hello, Alma! I am so going to beat you in two-on-two, fuhahaha! And you're totally going down, fuhahahahaa! And you'll have to go back to Willow Way, fuhahahahahah!"

Skyler -> user posted image <- Skyler

"Why are you adding that weird laugh to the end of everything you say? It's really annoying. And... and why are you..."
"Saying obvious things over and over, fuhahaha? I don't know, it's just my style. I'll stop doing it... if you let me stop you! Makuhita and Dewgong, we have an intruder alert!"

Now what are you going to do?
