Ok. I'm a Harry Potter GEEK. Learn that. And please crit and comment!

She walked up the same old stairs like he did every day after doing the same old chores on her way to do the same old cleaning. It’s been 3 years since her brother, his girlfriend, and her own boyfriend had all gone separate ways. She was fond of all three of them, and was very disappointed that none of their paths involved her. Her parents were still there though, even if just barely. Her father said he was feeling much older than he was. She was getting thirsty so she changed directions and headed towards the kitchen. As she entered the kitchen, she saw someone standing there. She had been keeping quiet as her father was having a nap, and so this person had not heard her coming. It was a man. With messy black hair and a tall slender figure. She took a step forward and he turned around. Their eyes met, and they both stared at each other in awe.

They stood there together for what seemed an eternity. It was her old boyfriend, the one she never quite got over. As she stared, memories flooded in like a river. Memories of that fraction of a year they had been able to spend together as lovers. Of times down by the lake, or walking to the pitch together, or some other schoolyard date. It was he who broke the silence. With only one word, “Ginny…”

Only a second after he said it she had him in a warm embrace. “Oh Harry I’ve missed you!” She screamed, “When did you get back?”

“Just a minute ago. I finally decided I had been away long enough.” They finally left each others arms’ to have a seat at the table. Ginny took out her wand and with a flick of her wrist the stove flared up and a meal was cooking.

“Oh! I’ll be right back! Mum’s knitting upstairs and Dad is taking a nap. I’ll go fetch them!” Ginny said bolting up to go gather the household.

So Harry sat there by himself. He was used to being alone. After he had fought Voldemort, that’s all he had been. But only recently had he actually felt lonely. He had been roaming around trying to find an answer to how he was supposed to finally destroy Voldemort. Since he himself is, in fact, a Horcrux. He had told nobody. He had been the only one close enough to Voldemort to hear him say it. Since Harry had had to stab Voldemort with his wand.

His thoughts were interrupted by a screech of delight from Mrs. Weasley. “Harry! We thought you were dead! Your hand on my clock has been just hanging loose! Oh my, look how much you’ve grown! No doubt too big for your old Christmas sweaters?” And Mrs. Weasley too soon had him in a bear hug.

Mr. Weasley, however, seemed a little groggy still. His hair wasn’t so red these days, and his face looked a little stretched. After a minute, and four checks of the magic clock, he finally realized that Harry was back. “Harry m’boy! It’s been far too long! Couldn’t you have at least sent an owl to tell us where you were?”

“No sir. I left Hedwig with Professor McGonnagal at Hogwarts, along with all my things. No doubt half of it is on display.” Harry managed to say after he downed a cup of hot cocoa Mrs. Weasley had handed him.

“Well Harry,” began Ginny, “Aren’t you going to tell us where you’ve been?”

“I suppose I shall.” Acknowledged Harry. “I’ve really been everywhere. Apparating when I could, flying when I couldn’t. I started out directly after Bill and Fleur’s wedding. I went first to Hogwarts to pay Dumbledore’s grave a visit, then decided to go overseas.”

“I took a plane to Canada. You’d love it there Mr. Weasley. Even the witches and wizards do everything the muggle way. And they also have the weirdest dialect. Anyway, from there I went south through the United States. I was almost caught in that bombing they had. It burnt the backside of my Firebolt.”

“Then I went down to South America, then over to Africa, Australia and Asia. And for the past year I’ve just walked around Europe. I even saw Charlie in Romania! He said I should come back here, and I did straight away. But I really needed time to think, so I walked.”

“So that’s why your legs are huge!” Gimmy chimed in, “Played any Quidditch? I hear the Canadian team has some neat tricks.”

“Actually I did. They are though! I managed to get them to teach me some of their moves and such. I could show you some after we eat.”

“That’d be excellent. But now, the food is done.” Ginny flicked her wand again and the food cut, seasoned, and placed itself on plates that flew to the table. “Mum’s been teaching me to cook.”

They ate through a conversation Mr. Weasley had with Harry about the creation of Maple Syrup. Not comprehending it came from trees; he concluded it was advanced alchemy. Harry had also picked up a couple languages; enough Spanish to get around and he became quite fluent in French.

“Fleur’s become really good in English as well. But I presume she’ll be happy to talk in her first language with someone.” Commented Ginny with a raised eyebrow and an all-knowing look.

After playing some Quidditch, Ginny and Harry set off for a walk together. When they came to a bench by a stream, they sat together. “I’ve really missed you, you know.” Confessed Harry.

Ginny fought the urge to slide right up next to him. Certainly he would’ve moved on long ago, and probably hooked up with some girls of his own in other countries. So there they sat. For a long while too, until Mrs. Weasley came bursting towards them telling them to come into the house quick. They didn’t argue, and ran home.

Harry made it long before Ginny, his legs were much longer and stronger, and when she got there, she saw him just staring in the doorway. Her pace slowed as she came up to him, and on her tiptoes she peeked into the house.

He was staring at the clock. Ron’s hand was on “Traveling”. No sooner had she read it had a loud crack erupted from behind her.

She ran towards her brother and had him in a headlock in no time. After a “welcome home” noogie, he saw Harry. “Blimey!” He exclaimed, “Harry! So this is where you’ve been hiding!” He glanced between Harry and Ginny. “So have I got any nieces or nephews yet?”

Harry cracked a smile and Ginny’s face flushed pink. Mr. And Mrs. Weasley looked at each other and back at their children. Of course, they never knew what Ginny and Harry had.

I will. Well, thing is, I'm going to write it, then decide chapters. My aim is 100 pages at least. But that'd be on 8.5 by 11 paper, so in a book... I'll figure it out. Ok. I have with me "The Last Apprentice: Curse of the Bane". It's an ok thick book. With just under 500 pages. And... 191 words per page average. So... 191 times 500 is 95500. So there's about 95500 words in a book that took me less than 10 hours to read... I think 19100 words would be ok for my first. I'm done for the night though.

EDIT: Ok. It's gonna be about 48500 words now. So if I write 100 pages in Word, it'll transfer to about 300 in the format I like. ANd ehre's the next part! Be warned, it gets PG.

And just as they never knew, Harry and Ginny had never forgotten. Harry, determined as ever to figure out Malfoy’s plans, and Ginny, studying for her OWLs, they hadn’t had much time. When Harry said Voldemort would be after those Harry loved, he broke up with Ginny. Then after Ginny presumed Voldemort was destroyed, not knowing Harry is a horcrux, she thought he would come back to her.

“Actually Ron, I just got back as well. Well, I had to go over my travels with excruciating detail, get on with it!” Demanded Harry as he sat down at the table. Ginny slid in right after him.

“Well, I suppose I should.” Ron said, also taking a seat. “After he died, I just kind of went loony. I don’t know where I started, it was somewhere hot, and I trained with some monks. They helped me find my sanity again, so I set off. I ended up in Romania, as Harry might’ve known if he had sharper eyes. I was helping out Charlie. And Harry almost stepped right on top of me! Oh, I forgot to mention, I’m a registered animagus!”

Everyone’s jaw dropped. Ron, their Ron, was an animagus! “Well Ron,” shouted Mrs. Weasley, “What are you then?”

They all watched in amazement as Ron shrank down to a dog. A red-haired dog, no less! After he had transformed, he put his paws up on the table, and barked.

Turning back into a human, he wore a huge grin. Out of all the people Harry and Ginny had known, they would’ve expected very few to become animagi. Hermione, maybe, possible even Luna Lovegood, but not Ron!

Mrs. Weasley shot up from her seat. “I’ve got to send an owl to Bill and Charlie!” As she bustled along, Harry began to speak.

“Wow. What are the chances of Ron and me coming back on the same day? I mean, seriously?” He sat befuddled, but not for so long.

“Well, it’s a good lot better than Hermione coming as well.” Pointed out Ginny. As she said this, she watched Ron carefully. There it was. The same look he had worn at the end of Bill and Fleur’s wedding, as they all left. Ron and Harry didn’t know where to, but Hermione did. She said she was heading straight for Bulgaria. That, or so Ginny thought, is what set Ron crazy.

Mrs. Weasley came back into the room out of breath. “We really need to train that new owl of yours Ginny!”

“Sorry Mum. Oh, I forgot to tell you guys, Pig died.” Ginny explained. “About three months now.”

“Well Ron,” gasped Mrs. Weasley, “Your room is still the way it always was. Have any stuff, put it up there.”

So Ron trudged up the stairs with a yawn and said he’d be down for the night then. And so Ginny went up to bed as well, and Harry went back out to the lake to think. He sat for a bit, and got up to go look into the water. It’s inviting mirrored surface gleamed himself back at him.

There was his scar. He hadn’t even noticed it since he killed the second last piece of Voldemort. But the water looked more inviting than ever. So he stripped off his clothes and dove in. He swam for what seemed only 10 minutes when he realized the sun had set.

He got out, and went to the bench to get dressed. As he got out, he heard a little shriek and a girl say “You lived with muggles Harry! You’d think you’d have a bathing suit by now!”

He quickly got back in the water. That voice, it sounded so different, yet still had the know-it-all tone he had missed so much. “Hermione! No way! Uh, could you toss in my clothes?”

She tossed them in and he dressed in the water. When he came out she flicked her wand and he dried instantly. He immediately stopped, awestruck. “A new spell I invented.” She explained. Of course, he thought, leave it to Hermione.
“Harry… I had hoped you’d be here…” And within seconds they were together. Like two old friends, which they were. But something else was there. They had missed each other. Missed the days they had spent together. All the times she’d correct his essays, by which I mean finished, and the times during their fourth year when she’d helped him win the Tri-Wizard cup.

They stood, and then something took control of their bodies. They loosened a bit, only so their heads weren’t over the other’s shoulder. And they looked each other in the eye for a moment. Then, slowly, they each moved closer at the same time. And they kissed.

Only a second after their lips met they realized what was happening. They broke apart immediately and stared at each other in shock. Sure, Harry had felt some attraction towards Hermione. How could he not? She’s beautiful, smart, and a really good friend. But hadn’t he loved Ginny, not her? And hadn’t she, Ron?

Their heads whizzed and whirred. They finally began talking. “I’m sorry,” confessed Harry, “I didn’t mean it to happen.”

“Neither did I.” Said Hermione. “But it did. Now what are we going to do? I still love Ron… But don’t tell him so quite yet. I suppose he is here? What about Ginny?”

There was that all-knowing look again. “Yes, both of them are. And Ginny can’t know either. Just, can we say it never happened?” Plead Harry.

“Of course!” Hermione turned towards the path for the Burrow. “But it did…” She said this last part so quietly that Harry could not hear her. He caught up with her and started on his adventures around the world on their way back home.

“Oh, Ron and I both arrived today.” Stated Harry as they entered the Weasley’s kitchen.

“Technically yesterday.” Pointed out Hermione. Indicating the actual analog clock. It was quarter past 3 in the morning.

“Wow. That late already? Well, I’m off to bed. Ginny’s room is still the same, but I’m not sure about the others. So you should just head up there. Try not to wake her, and meet me down here at dawn.” Said Harry as he started up the stairs.

Hermione was right behind him on the stairs, almost to Ginny’s room when something occurred to her. “How do you know it’s the same?” Then she slipped quietly in and didn’t even bother undressing. She was asleep within minutes.

Harry however, took his time ascending the remaining few stairs to the room he and Ron had shared over so many summers. When he was finally in bed, he didn’t sleep. He kept going over what had happened in his head. He truly loved Ginny, yet he hadn’t even told her yet and he’d kissed Hermione.

He lay awake until dawn. He heard Hermione trip out of the door and curse quietly. It suddenly dawned on Harry that Hermione and Ron must’ve changed quite a bit. Ron, an animagus, and Hermione, cursing at something as little as tripping.

When he made it to the kitchen, there was Hermione. Munching away at a bowl of cereal and milk. She obviously hadn’t done her hair yet. When Hermione didn’t even notice him when he sat across from her, he grabbed her spoon out of her hand and took a bite himself.

“Good morning Harry.” She said with a bright smile and a yawn. “You didn’t tell me they got a dog!”

Harry then realized that Hermione was moving ever so slightly as she scratched the belly of a red dog on the floor. “He’s even got red hair like the rest of them!”

Harry stared for a second and burst out laughing. “What?” She demanded. After Harry had been trying to tell her for a few minutes, the dog slowly began getting bigger. Soon it took the form of Ron, who also began laughing. Flustered and blushing, Hermione attacked her cereal once again.

“Oh Harry! You missed it! I was even licking her toes!” Ron said through bursts of laughter. This just set off Harry even more. Soon the rest of the house was also in the kitchen. They all stood, baffled at why Ron and Harry were laughing, and surprised to see Hermione sitting there as well.

After Harry and Ron calmed down, they all greeted Hermione. But when Ron explained what happened, both Ginny and Hermione slapped him across the face. But Ginny joined in on the laughter. Even Hermione found it hard to suppress giggles.

“Congratulations on becoming an animagus Ron.” She managed to get out through mouthfuls of cereal. “I tried, but I couldn’t quite get it.” This shocked everybody. Except for Ron, nobody could believe it. Hermione could do everything that took knowledge.

“What did you try? I mean, what animal? Well, actually, tell us about what you’ve been doing.” Sputtered Ron.

“Well, I went to Bulgaria to see Viktor. We were together for a bit, but when he took that bludger to the head and died… I set off for America. I found a postcard from Australia in the trash, so I took it out, and managed to apparate there. I got an apartment there and saved up my money to come back here, but I got side tracked. I found a boyfriend and we really hit it off. He actually proposed. But a few days before the wedding he tried to kill me,”

At this point Hermione was almost in tears. Ron had put his arm around her to comfort her. She went on, “So I… Pulled out my wand… And I killed him…” She was crying now, but only tears fell from her face. “I’m ok Ron, really I am. The only reason I’m crying is because I was almost in Azkaban. My old roommates were there, one of them died of shock after they took her memory, but even with my testimony under veritaserum and my memory taken from my head, because I’m such an advanced witch, it also took the memory of my old roommates, the security footage, and police evidence to keep me out of jail.

She had gone back to normal and continued. “That was three weeks ago. I apparated here as soon as the trial was finished. Right outside of the ministry.”

I'm just wondering, does anyone REALLY want me to continue? I've been wondering about getting back into it. Cos I really enjoyed writing what I've done so far, but I'd have to give up something else in my *cough*busy*cough* schedule.

A truly worthy fanfic. I think you should continue.
