I have recently decided to run a census of each of the routes just for reference of any people wanting to know how often you find such-and-such or how many trainers await you on your way through the route. The game I am using is Pokémon Emerald, and some of these facts may apply ONLY to that game. I finished the first census, that of Route 101, today.
Route 101
Route 101 is a road in southwestern Hoenn, extending 20 paces from Littleroot Town in the south to Oldale Town in the north.
As of the most recent census, the wild Pokémon selection consisted of 55.73% :poochyena:s, 39.99% :wurmple:s, and 4.28% :zigzagoon:s.
The population was 55.73% Dark, 39.99% Bug, and 4.28% Normal.
49.06% of the population was on level 2 and 54.94% of the population was on level 3.

Here's the next guide, that of the western portion of Route 103 (103W).
Route 103W is a road in western Hoenn, extending 14 paces from Oldale Town in the south to a narrow river in the north. Route 103E begins on the east bank of this river.
As of the most recent census, the wild Pokémon selection consisted of 68.64% :poochyena:s, 21.64% :wingull:s, and 9.72% :zigzagoon:s.
The population was 68.64% Dark, 10.82% Water, 10.82% Flying, and 9.72% Normal.
By level, the population was 48.30% Level 2, 39.64% Level 3, and 12.06% Level 4.
During her first appearance, May is seen on Route 103W. There are no permanent residents.

Er. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but don't you visit 102 beofre 103? I know there's some whacked thing in RSE.

No, you don't. When you first try to enter Route 102 from Oldale Town, a man will say he has found unusual footprints there. The only way open is north to Route 103W. After you beat May on Route 103W, you can go back to Route 102 and the dude will have moved out of the way.
Now, here's the next census edition.
Route 102 is a road in southwestern Hoenn, extending 50 paces from Oldale Town in the east to Petalburg City in the west. There are no junctions with any other routes.
As of the most recent census, the wild Pokémon selection consisted of 35.97% :wurmple:s, 27.87% :poochyena:s, 19.78% :lotad:s, 11.07% :zigzagoon:s, and 5.31% :ralts:s.
The population was 35.97% Bug, 27.87% Dark, 11.07% Normal, 9.89% Grass, 9.89% Water, and 5.31% Psychic.
By level, the population was 60.37% Level 3 and 39.63% Level 4.
There are six permanent residents: the four trainers Allen, Calvin, Rick and Tiana, and two non-trainers.
