Title: We'll Miss You, Johto... Or Will We?
W.T. - March 19, 2007 09:39 AM (GMT)
According to a rumor I found floating around
Pokémonaholic, (this may or may not be true) the second generation games had an apocalypse about a week ago when the batteries built-in with the games died out. People still playing these games cannot continue playing, and if they start a new file, their games will be erased whenever they save.
However. There may be one possible solution.
If you were to start your new file, you would have to make sure that you NEVER saved — that is, you left it on 24/7. As soon as the power on the Game Boy Color got low, you would have to connect it to a charger & wait until it has returned to normal, and then you could play again. But if you forgot to recharge, & your GBC ran out of power? Boom. Your game would go off and all your save-file data would be erased.
Either way, we'll miss you, Johto... or will we?

I must check my gold version! I will be right back! I was about to pick it up and start playing again!
NOOOO!!!!
I CAN'T FIND IT!!!

But remember. There's always the possibilty of a GBA/DS remake!

I headed to my room and got my Silver Version just now to see if this is true for me. I'm now about to turn it on...
It's on...
Still going through screens...
Skipping the intro movie...
Hitting the A button at the start up screen...
And...
Are you ready?...
This could prove or disprove it!...
How much longer can I type?...
Well, I still have a continue option, and... Yep, I'm looking right now and all my Pokémon are still here. Mew, Dragonite, Mewtwo, Pidgeot, Tyranitar, and Charizard. It's still working for me.

Well, I checked mine and guess what?! All three of mine work. Maybe tiny aliens got into their games and sucked all the power out of the batteries.

I think some people have still played their gold and silve and stuff regularly.

No Pokemon.com confirmed hence you can get all the Johto Pokemon in the Wild, there is a 5% Change of a remake.

Still. 5%
And I found my Gold!
Let's see.. Turn on. But what? NO! I CAN'T BELIEVE IT! SOMEONE STARTED A NEW FILE! BUt otherwise it's ok.

Actually, this may sound weird, but that actually happened to my Gold version. I would save, andwhen I turned it back on, it would be deleted. Then a year later I tried again, and if I saved in the first hour or so of the game it would delete, then later it would save for good, and then it started not saving it anymore again... weird, huh?

Sadly, Nintendo probably won't make a G/S Remake.
From what I've heard, they've already said there's a way to get all the Johto pokemon from R/S/E/FR/LG. But, I suppose if they polled and got enough "Yes go for it!" votes and they could make money off of it, who knows what they'd do. Also, there's that possibility of them making it more GBA than Ds, in which case they're too late (Now with Diamond and Pearl kicking butt in graphics xD)
Tis meh opinon x3
To be on topic: Crystal still works x3

As I posted in the other G/S topic...
G/S/C only die from inactivity. The internal battery seems to run like a car's battery...the more you play the game, the more it charges. If you don't play it for a long time, however, the battery goes kaput. Silver seems especially prone to this.
Once your battery dies, it's not necessarily the end, however. Evidence suggests that
by charging your Gameboy for 100 hours with G/S/C playing, you can recharge the internal battery. It appears that that doesn't work for everyone, though...a more drastic response would be
changing the battery.P.S.: G/S/C is not the only set of games this can happen in. R/B/Y also run off internal save batteries, but, as the clock is the most battery-draining feature in G/S/C, it's less likely. Even R/S/E aren't totally immune...the save file itself uses flash memory, but there's a battery for the internal clock. After a while, it may stop keeping time, thus the infamous berry glitch.
