Title: 1 vs. 100
Description: Superhero style!

W.T. - March 3, 2007 12:13 AM (GMT)
You saw Jeopardy.
You saw The Price is Right.
Now it's time for the next game show...
1 vs. 100!
The rules are simple. Either you will win, or they will win!

We're now taking applications to be the "1" in the title. First come, first served... or shall we say... first come, only one served! This game will pit you against a quizzing mob of 100 comic characters, past, present, mutants, superheroes, starring roles, heroes, villians — they're from all walks of life. They will not rest until you have been defeated!

OK. The rules aren't exactly as I said above.
You can go here for the rules, of course, but just in case, an explanation is below.

1. Immediately after you've been introduced, you'll be asked your first question. The members of the Mob (computer-generated by me) will answer the question right away, and then you'll have to choose your answer.
2. You have three lifelines: Ask the Mob, Poll the Mob, & Trust the Mob, but I'll explain them later. Just ask if you need to know.
3. If you answer the question correctly, you will then find out how many Mob members got the question wrong, and you'll earn $1,000 (not real money, of course) for each of them.
4. But if you answer the question wrong, all the correct Mob members will split the rest of your earnings and you'll walk away empty-handed.
5. The first three questions are worth $1,000 per member each. You now have the option of "taking the money" (walking away with your current winnings) or "taking the Mob" (trying to beat them on another question).
6. After the three $1,000-each questions are two $2,000-each questions. You cannot walk away until you've answered both of them. Thereafter, the amount of money you earn goes up by $1,000 each time and you can walk after every question.
7. If you manage to get all 100 Marvel and DC stars out, you will earn a cool million dollars! Good luck to you...
8. Because after all, either you will win, or they will win.

A list of our Mob members can be viewed here (will be updated when it's generated).

Who would like to join in to go against all of our stars?

Kane - March 5, 2007 12:18 PM (GMT)
Ive saw this show once. Ill play.

lopfot - March 6, 2007 12:49 AM (GMT)
I guess I'll sign up early...

W.T. - March 6, 2007 01:23 AM (GMT)
You two are now signed in on the official 1 vs 100 registration desk. Which is just my computer. :XD:
Since Kane asked first, he will be the first contestant. I know that you're not really from Cedar Key, Florida, but I just made that up because they call out the home of each contestant before he actually gets questions answered.

It's time to play... 1 vs 100!! Coming down to the stage for the first time is your new host, W.T.!
And, entering from the back door are a parade of one hundred stars cut straight from the pages of your silver-age ten-cent comics: introducing our PAPER MOB!
Now, here comes our one contestant. From Cedar Key in Northwestern Florida, we're ready to meet Mr. Kane!

* Mob boos and flashes "loser" signs @ Kane as he walks down *

W.T.: And how are you doing today, Mr. Kane?
You: I'm doing just fine, thank you!
W.T.: Got anyone out in the audience with you?
You: Unfortunately, no. I wish I did.
* laughter *
W.T.: And you think you can defeat the entire mob and steal their million-dollar designs? You will also win free donuts @ Krispy Kreme for the next 25 years.
* laughter *
W.T.: Hey, number 1. How are you doing, sir?
The Thing: Fine, but I'm busy! I'm on a mission here.
You (yanking the microphone away from me): And that mission is what?
The Thing: TO DESTROY YOU!!
* wild applause from the mob & audience*

W.T.: OK. Are you ready for your first question?
You: Yes. I guess I don't have any other choice but yes, do I now?
* question flashes up on screen *

What is the capital of the United States?
A) The 2nd largest city
B) The 11th largest city
C) The 26th largest city

This was trickier than you thought. What's the answer?

Kane - March 6, 2007 08:44 PM (GMT)
Me: I will have to say C, W.T.

lopfot - March 7, 2007 04:02 PM (GMT)

Yeah same here.

W.T. - March 11, 2007 11:09 AM (GMT)
The next question has a veeery slight US undertone, but overall, the questions are not centred on the US.

...Back to the game, then...

YES! You got the correct answer! Washington is the US's 26th largest city. The other two answers referred to Los Angeles and Detroit. Let's see how many got that wrong, for $1,000 each.
DING! DING! DING! DING! DING! DING! DING! DING! DING! DING! DING! DING! DING!
OK. Thirteen people (or mutants) got that wrong, so you earn $13,000. You still have two questions to go before you can walk. Next question, everyone eliminated is worth $1,000 again. It's 1 VS. 87!

"Calexico" is the name of two of the three things shown below. What is it NOT the name of?
A) A type of Caribbean tree
B) A popular rock band
C) A city on the Mexican border

Eighty-seven remaining mob members, please answer now.
DOO doo Doo doo DOO doo DOO...
Now it's time for you to answer. Would you like to use a help?

Kane - March 11, 2007 02:22 PM (GMT)
Well W.T. Im gonna have to go with C again.

W.T. - March 16, 2007 05:52 PM (GMT)
Now, it's time to see if your answer was right.
DOO doo doo DOO doo Doo Doo Doo DOO doo DOO .....
* audience groans *
* mob breaks out in wild applause *
NO! You got the wrong answer! I'm awfully sorry, but we're going to have to take away your money and you're going home empty-handed. The correct answer is A. How many people in the mob got that question wrong?

DING! DING! DING! DING! DING! DING! DING! DING! DING! DING! DING! DING! DING! DING! DING! DING! DING! DING!
Eighteen got it wrong. That means sixty-nine members will be splitting your cash winnings; they will be sharing, and will receive $188.41 a piece. OK, Lex Luthor, what will you be doing with that money?

<Lex> I don't know yet. I'll try to derail Superman... somehow! Oh! Derail! That's a great idea! Can I get that $188.41 in change?
<W.T.> Change!? Why?
<Lex> You know what can happen when a penny is on a railroad track... but it's best not to get into that.
<W.T.> On to the next mob member. From right up in Canada [pronouncing it kon-a-DAH], meet LoPFoT!

<LoPFoT> Let's get started wright away. I need my first question, W.T. I know the rules. Either I'll win, or those freaks...
* "loser" signs & boos from the Mob *
... will.

First question, now. 1 VS 100!
Who wrote my current Quote of the Day(or so)?
A) The angry man of jazz
B) The happy man of punk
C) The freaky lunatic of hip hop

One hundred mob members, please answer now.
* music *
Now it's time for you to answer. What's the verdict?

lopfot - March 17, 2007 02:19 AM (GMT)
Well, W.T., I have to say A. Final answer.
