Title: complaint

We had these same people at our RPG, Snowl's Space, and I just kept deleting their posts and within a week they left. Just ban them, IP ban them, do whatever you can. It's better to do something than let this site die.

What? The Spammers? You Can't IP ban them.
They are bots created just for the reason to advertise. If you IP ban them, they'll somehow change IP and get around it. =/

So you are just giving up?
Blaziken93 - January 31, 2007 03:24 PM (GMT)
You could delete their posts/topics and ban them from posting permenetly.

Or you could just stop new members from joining for a while. Considering the ratioof spammers to emembers is somewhat massive, maybe it'll be woerth it.
It of course, will only be a temporary measure.

No, Not giving up. I'll delete/close topics as nessacary. Since i have no ban power, then that is out of question.
I'll also remove and links in their posts, as you probably have no need for them anyway. Feel free to PM me links, but I'll probably notice them on my own. =)

Well, check the Tecnical Assistance fourm. It's overrunning with SPAM, and the three topics below us in this fourm are SPAM.

I've cleared the forum out of Innapropiate Topics/Posts. There was a total of FOURTY inappropiate topics/posts in only eight days. Man this is a problem. x_x It took me half an hour.

Wowza. This seems to be a larger problem tham MC had. We got like 4 topics and they left (For now >.<;;)
But still... There has to be a way to stop them. IP Bans just won't do it though.... =/

Here are some suggestions then:
Don't let members with weird names in. They'll most likely be spam bots.
Don't allow validating members to post anywhere until they're members.
If they do manage to post, then just delete their topics/posts and ban them from posting. Warning meter --> check the box that says something about disabling their posting abilities indefinetly.
I would definetly become a mod to help delete the spam if needed.

New registrations are disabled for the time being.
We previously had e-mail validation, so no one was really checking the names or addresses.
Hmm, maybe things will be better this way. Mwahaha. XD
