The long awaited banner contest is here! Show off your artistic skills and make a new banner for Dragonair's Den. As usual, there are some rules:

• Maximum size is 600 x 175 pixels (width x height). As a reference, the banner we currently use is 501 x 142.
• Each member may submit up to 2 entries (total, not 2 entries per category).
• Each member can only win one prize.
• The banner must say "Dragonair's Den" and it should have the words "Pokémon RPG" in smaller letters. Once again, refer to our current banner for an example.
• It must contain at least 1 Dragonair on it somewhere. How unexpected. :P It can have other Pokémon on it in addition to the Dragonair.
• It can be created by hand, with a computer, whatever. Just please do not save it as a .BMP file since they tend to take up a huge amount of space. I'd recommend .PNG.
• Plagiarism would be pretty difficult for a contest like this since I don't think there are a bunch of DD banners out there, but just in case there are, you cannot steal someone else's banner and call it your own. ;)
• Please make certain that all words on the banner are spelled correctly. No matter how great your banner is, it will have no chance of winning first place if it contains misspelled words. If you are unsure how something should be spelled, ask me.

There will be 2 categories: matching and non-matching. "Matching" is for banners that are created to match the site's current skin. All others are in the non-matching category. Winners will be chosen in both categories. The winner of the matching category will have their banner used on Dragonair's Den for the next couple of months or longer. I'll decide on the category for your entry. Basically, anything that would clash with the current skin (such as bright yellow) or just not look right with it (like black) will go into the non-matching category.

The winner of the non-matching category may have their banner used at some later time (after I become more skilled with CSS and HTML... this could take a while). There will also be prizes awarded, but you'll find out what those are eventually...

[Edit] Oh, I thought of another one. When I sent mine, I put it in the matching category because the main color of it is blue, like the site. Though it's a darker blue....so did I pick the right category? What exactly makes an enrty "matching"?

Yes, your entry is in the right category. "Matching" or "non-matching" is an opinion, I suppose. I'll should change it so that I choose the category because it's hard to make specific guidelines for it.

I got a question joan, can we do a banner like half matching and half non matching, eg one side blue the other side red? if so what catergory will that be??

Non-matching, because it is overall non-matching

I'd have to decide based on the overall look of it. Basically, I just don't want to put up a banner that doesn't look right with this current skin. If you want, you can send possible entries to me (letting me know that you're not actually entering them yet) and ask what category I would put them in.

Uhm...that's one of the things YOU have to decide, Pyro. You really can't ask what the judge wants...that's why it's called a CONTEST. You submit whatever you think looks best, and then see what happens. Good luck though ^_^

Umbreon Evolution - I put it in the matching category since the main color is a shade of white, which matches blue.

Angie - A recolored Dragonair would have been fine.

I was going to have people vote, but was too lazy to put up polls, so I chose the winners myself. :P As you can see, the winning banner for the matching cateogry has been put up.
