Title: Chatroom

Joan - May 11, 2005 05:40 AM (GMT)
Our chatroom is called DDGT. We share this chatroom with one of our affiliates, Ghost Tower.

If you access the chatroom from the link on the site, you'll need a program called Java. When you first click the chatroom link, it may take a minute or two to load, especially if you don't have a high-speed Internet connection. In the meantime, you'll see a gray box. If you've waited a couple minutes and nothing comes up, you probably need a new version of Java. You can download it for free by visiting this link.

If you use a program called mIRC, you'll need this information:

Server: irc.bitsjointirc.net

Room: #ddgt

Nicknames (Nicks)

Changing your nickname is very simple. Just type:
/nick NewNameHere

So if I wanted to use my nickname, I'd type:
/nick Joan

**************************

Some nicknames are registered. When someone registers a nickname, no one else can use it without knowing the password.
You can check to see if the name you want is taken by typing:
/ns info NicknameHere
Replace "NicknameHere" with the nickname you want to look up. You can also use that command to look up some basic information about a person. If the name is not registered and not currently being used by anyone, it will say:

-
-NickServ- Nick (NicknameHere) isn't registered.
-

If you want to register your nickname, first make sure you're currently using the name you want. Then type:
/ns register password email
Replace "password" with the password you want to use for this name. You might want to write it down so you don't forget, because you'll need it later. And replace "email" with your e-mail address. Our server is small, so the name you want will probably be available.

Every time you log on to the chatroom and want to use your registered nickname, you'll have to "identify" to it. Change to your registered nickname if you haven't already, then type:
/ns identify password
Once again, replace "password" with the password you chose when you registered.
